ICM was founded in 1986 by Prof. Dr. Mohamed I.
Elmasry, Professor of Electrical and Computer
Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
The mission of the ICM series is to bridge the
technological, educational and cultural gaps between
developing and developed nations.
The first conference in the series was held in
Algeria in 1988. The 23rd edition of ICM will be
held in Tunisia on December 2011.
In 1995, the Electron Devices Society of the IEEE
cosponsored the conference.
In 2004, ICM and Handasa Arabia sponsored the 1st
International Electronics Design Contest for
Students (IEDCS).
